TopNorthville Kiwanis Club

Kiwanis LogoAlthough Northville is often considered an affluent suburb, needy families and individuals do exist and the Kiwanis clubs are active providers of donations and services to Northville residents and to our surrounding area.

The Northville Kiwanis clubs are part of Kiwanis International. There are two Northville Kiwanis clubs: a morning club and an evening club. The Northville Early Bird Kiwanis is dedicated to serving the Northville community. Northville Early Birds provide a yearly community service scholarship to a local qualified student, annual funds to send a member to serve with Habitat for Mankind, allocate funds to publish children's Braille books, adopt a holiday family, provide monthly donations to a local food pantry, and fund a seven month special handicap bowling program.

Northville Early Bird Kiwanis meets weekly at Northville Crossing Restaurant at 7:00am. If you have any questions or would like to become a member, please contact Marlene Kunz at 248-344-1033.

The Northville evening Kiwanis Club is perhaps best known for the delicious Italian sausages sold at local events such as the Victorian Festival and Art in the Sun. The proceeds from Italian sausage sales have for years been the only source of fund raising for the evening club. However, recently, The Butch Casterline Memorial Golf Outing and The Northville Kiwanis Polar Bear Plunge have been added to support the growing needs for support.

Each year, Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys, are purchased (along with vegetables & desert) and are delivered to various needy families around Northville. Members of the club also volunteer time to the Salvation Army as Bell Ringers at a local grocery store. The evening club sponsors the handicap bowling program mentioned above as well as helping with the holiday party and summer picnic. At the regional level, the Northville Kiwanis makes a financial contribution each year to the CS Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor.

Kiwanis is always looking for energetic members. Meetings are held twice monthly (1st and 3rd Monday evenings) at the VFW Hall on Northville, Rd at 6:30pm.

Call our President, Kris Wilson 734-420-2142 to get more information or details about any of the events.
