MACY’S “SHOP FOR A CAUSE” Benefits Mill Race Village
The name is simple; the idea is simple. In Macy’s “Shop for the
Cause” program, shoppers buy a $5 ticket then take their tickets to
Macy’s Twelve Oaks on Saturday, September 20th. On that day only,
savings of 10% to 20% are offered on most merchandise in the
store—even that already on sale. For more information, call The

HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY
On September 27, 2008 the City of Northville will host its annual
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day at our “City Yards”
facility located at 650 Doheny Drive from 8:00am until 4:00pm. This
event will be open to all Northville, Northville Township and
Livonia residents.
Although free for residents, the City pays per vehicle.
Therefore, Northville residents are encouraged to carpool to reduce
the amount of cars and thus the cost of the program.

Thayer's Corner Nature Area Opening
Celebration and Work Party
Thayer's Corner Nature Area Opening Celebration and Work Party is
scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday April 26. The work party begins at
8:30am and will continue until 12:30pm. A ribbon cutting ceremony
will be held at 9:00am. Please bring work gloves and garden tools.
Lunch will be served to volunteers.
Thayer's Corner Community Garden plots are still available for
purchase. The plots are 20' x 10' for a fee of $25. The plots can be
purchased at the Parks and Recreation Department 700 W. Baseline
Road (behind Hillside Middle School) 248-349-0203.
Thayer's Corner Nature Area is located at 8250 Napier Road, between
Six and Seven Mile Roads.

Early Childhood Program Art Display at Senior Community Center
Stop by the Northville Community Senior Center now through Tuesday,
April 15 to view a display of pre-school art projects prepared by
the Northville Early Childhood Program. The main lobby of the
building, located at 303 West Main Street is filled with colorful
creations from the pre-school kids of Northville.
Parks and Recreation Catalog Is Available
The Summer 2008 Parks and Recreation Catalog has been mailed to
Northville community residents. The catalog is filled with a variety
of camps, classes and events for every member of the family; infants
to seniors. Walk in registration for summer programs begins on April
17 for Northville residents, mailed in and faxed registration begins
April 18 for residents. Non-resident registration begins April 21.

Fish Hatchery Tennis Courts Now Open!
Spring has arrived in Northville! Parks and Recreation staff have
installed the tennis court nets at Fish Hatchery Park and the courts
are now open for drop in play. Check the park bulletin board for
tennis class schedules that begin in May. Courts are reserved for
Parks and Recreation instructional lessons and camps during noted
times.

Parks and Recreation News
Easter EGGcitement will be held on Saturday, March 22 10:00am at
Maybury State Park. Come join the fun crafts, face-painting
and egg hunt activities. The Easter Bunny will be there for
picture taking opportunities. Sponsored by Northville Parks
and Recreation, Maybury State Park, Friends of Maybury. Please
use the Maybury State Park on Eight Mile Rd. The event
is free. State Park motor vehicle permits are required for
park entry.
Northville Parks and Recreation will offer drop in basketball
during spring break week. Drop in basketball will be held at
the Recreation Center at Hillside (rear of the school) Monday
- Thursday 12:00pm - 5:00pm and Friday, 12:00pm - 4:00pm. Fee
is $2 at the door.
The Summer 2008 Parks and Recreation activities catalog will be
mailed to Northville residents the week of March 31. Be on the
lookout for great fun times for you and your family!

Adult Softball Leagues now forming
Northville Parks and Recreation is still accepting applications
for team entries into Coed Slow-Pitch Softball Leagues. Sunday
League. One game per week, 12 week season plus playoffs.
Games at Northville Community Park Field #6 on Beck Rd, Games
played after 2:00pm.
League Fee: $410.00, plus umpire fees ($13 per team
per game) and non-resident fees ($18 per person) Class D level play.
Season is scheduled to begin the week of May 4, 2008.
NEW FOR NORTHVILLE!
Northville Parks and Recreation would like to establish a morning
softball league: Mens, Womens, Co-ed or all three if enough interest
exists! Games would be one day per week, played on
either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Game times to be
determined by the teams participating. We'll need to know ASAP
if there is enough interest, so please contact Northville Parks and
Rec, 248-449-9947, ASAP! Thank you and we look forward to
seeing you on the ball field.
Registration begins March 10, 2008 (first come, first serve basis
until league fills)
Team Entry Fee $445 Per team ($52 returned if no forfeits)

Northville Parks and Recreation and Maybury State Park are
teaming up to bring you another fun event…Easter EGGcitement on
Saturday, March 22 10:00am at Maybury State Park (Eight Mile Road
Entrance). The free event includes crafts, face-painting and an egg
hunt. The Easter Bunny will be there too, so don’t forget a
camera!
This event is held rain or shine, so please dress appropriately!
Participants should also bring an Easter Basket. A Michigan
State Park pass will be required for entry into the park.
Passes can be purchased at the park entrance.
The Handcrafters Spring Craft Show will be held at the Recreation
Center at Hillside Friday - Sunday March 14 - 16. Show hours
on Friday are 6:00 - 9:00 pm, Saturday 10:00am - 5:00pm, and Sunday
11:00am - 5:00pm. Show admission is $2.00 per person, no
strollers please.
The Northville Parks and Recreation and Senior Adult Services
offices will be closed on Friday, March 21 for the Good Friday
holiday.
