Pistol Permits, Inspections and Concealed Weapons Applications

The Police Department has entered into an agreement with the Wayne County Sheriff to fingerprint residents of the Wayne County portion of the City.  Portions of the CCW law were changed effective July 1, 2003.  The application fee was increased and new permits will be valid for five years.  All City residents can now have their fingerprints taken at the Police Department.  There is a $15.00 fee for this service.  This is in addition to the application fee.

A portion of the application fee, which you will pay at the county clerk's office, is paid to the county sheriff for the background check including the cost of fingerprinting.  You still pay this portion of the application fee regardless of where the fingerprints are taken.  If you are fingerprinted at a local police department rather than at the sheriff's office, you pay the additional local charge.

Applications must still be filed with the County Clerk.
