Each year the City holds an annual Household Hazardous Waste Day where residents are encouraged to bring hazardous waste to City Yards for proper disposal. The cost for this program is figured into the monthly price for weekly solid waste collection.

City of Northville

On September 27, 2008 the City of Northville will host its annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day at our “City Yards” facility located at 650 Doheny Drive from 8:00am until 4:00pm. This event will be open to all Northville, Northville Township and Livonia residents.

Although free for residents, the City pays per vehicle. Therefore, Northville residents are encouraged to carpool to reduce the amount of cars and thus the cost of the program.

Wayne County

Wayne County’s Department of Environment is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection for County residents.  The collection is designed to accept unwanted household chemicals for proper disposal and electronics (i.e. computer monitors, printers, scanners, keyboards, cell phones, fax machines and TVs) for recycling from residents. 

Date: Saturday, August 9
Time: 8:00am - 2:00pm
Location: Henry Ford Community College located at 5101 Evergreen Road in Dearborn (just south of Ford Road)

Open to: Wayne County residents

  • household paints
  • stains
  • floor care items
  • furniture polish
  • bathroom cleaners
  • lawn and garden chemicals
  • automotive fluids such as gasoline and antifreeze
  • fluorescent and compact fluorescent light bulbs
  • pharmaceutical waste (non-controlled substances only)
  • old computers
