Equipment

The Department operates six pieces of fire fighting and emergency medical apparatus.

Engine 1751 is a 2001 American LaFrance Eagle pumper, with a rated capacity of 1500 gallons per minute.  It serves as the Department’s primary fire attack pumper. Engine 1751

Line Separator

Rescue 1703 is a 2001 Freightliner/McCoy Miller Medium Duty Rescue unit, licensed and equipped as a Basic Life Support ambulance.  It is the Department’s primary emergency medical response unit. Rescue 1703

Aerial 1702 is a 1981 American LaFrance 1250 GPM pumper with a 75 foot aerial ladder device.  This unit was refurbished, with a new aerial ladder installed, in 2000.  Aerial 1702

Engine 1701 is a 1989 Pierce Dash pumper, with a 1250 gallons per minute rated pump.  It serves as the Department’s second-due engine.  Engine 1701

Rescue 1731 is a 1988 Ford/Pierce minipumper.  It has both fire fighting and EMS roles.  It is licensed as a non-transport Basic Life Support EMS vehicle and carries the Department’s hydraulic rescue tools.  It also has four-wheel drive, off-road capability. Rescue 1731

Line Separator

R-3 is a 2004 Columbia Special Event Rescue Vehicle. It carries a full compliment of BLS medical equipment, and is deployed to respond to medical emergencies during special community and sporting events. Rescue 1731

The Department’s apparatus carry a wide-range of state-of-the-art fire fighting and EMS equipment, including fire fighting foam equipment, self contained breathing apparatus with integral PASS devices which sound an alarm if the wearer remains motionless for 20 seconds, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric and manual rescue tools, thermal imaging camera, large diameter water supply lines, flammable gas and carbon monoxide detectors and automated external cardiac defibrillators. All personnel are equipped with NFPA compliant turn-out gear, personal SCBA masks and are alerted to calls via Monitor III alert pagers. The fire station has a communications console that serves as a back-up police and fire dispatch center.
