The City of Northville owns and maintains its own water and sewer systems. Water is purchased from Detroit as is the case in most Metro Detroit communities. The City’s sanitary sewer system empties into a major Wayne County transmission line which takes sanitary waste to the Detroit Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Water and Sewer Rates

Effective July 1, 2008 the water rate has been set at $4.51 per 1000 gallons.

Effective July 1, 2008 the sewer rate has been set at $3.91 per 1000 gallons.

There is also a bi-monthly service charge of $6.60 charged to all accounts.

Billing Schedule

Everyone is billed on a bi-monthly schedule (Six times per year).

Outdoor Water Usage

The City of Northville allows the use of a second meter (Dual Meter), which can be installed strictly for outdoor use. Residents receive a substantial decrease (approximately 60%) in their sewer rate for water going through the dual meter.

Current water rate for indoor use is $4.51/per 1000 gallons.
Current sewer rate for indoor use is $3.91/per 1000 gallons.
Combined rate is $8.42

Current water rate for dual meter is $4.51/per 1000 gallons.
Current sewer rate for dual meter is $1.83/per 1000 gallons.
Combined rate is $6.60
